Saturday Aug 5

4pm at Underground Collaborative

This is the first of 4 totally different events Saturday of the fest.  Don’t let the afternoon time-slot fool you, this one is sure to be a hit with a line up of great stand up, sketch comedy and improv all in one show!

Host is Matt Werner with Two, Too (Improv), Funeral Twins (Sketch) and headliner Jake West

Matt Werner (Host)
Matt Werner performs stand-up throughout the midwest. He is a featured player at ComedySportz Milwaukee, and he produces the widely-lauded Vino 100 Stand-Up Showcase! He has been called a “libidinous con-man and crackpot” by many reputable news organizations and scorned lovers across the internet.

Two, Too (Improv)
Two, too Improv is a trio comprised of Minneapolis duo Two (Cicely Robin Laing and Milwaukee native Blake Wanger) and one lucky guest (that’s the “too”) performing a unique form called “Kaleidoscope” that involves three scenes and an added twist that will get the performers all bent out of shape… literally. Our guest for the Milwaukee Comedy Festival is Minneapolis improvisor Max Besner, who has no idea what he’s gotten himself into. Blake and Cicely have been performing together for 5 years and the Two, too “Kaleidoscope” form debuted at HUGE Improv Theater in Minneapolis this spring.

Funeral Twins (Sketch)
The Funeral Twins are living lies, dreaming nightmares and denying reality. We put the “fun” back in “funeral”, tackling heavy subjects like death and missing appendages in a FUN way. We cater to the absurd and slightly dark; Audiences intrigued by a paradigm shift where comedy is deconstructed. We also utilize karaoke comedy in our shows, creating our own transition songs so audiences don’t feel as if we’ve left the stage between bits. The Funeral Twins have a very accessible nature – you feel like you know us, and we find it easy to connect with any audience and draw them in for more.

Jake West (Headliner)
Jake West has been seen on sketches on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and features at Zanies in Chicago.  He will appear at the Crossroads Comedy Festival in Indianapolis this October.  Jake has appeared in commercials for Intel and State Farm Insurance.  He is also in an indie feature film called “The 60 Yard Line” about hard-core Packers fans.  He has studied improv comedy in LA at The Groundlings and UCB, and also at IO Chicago.  Jake almost did 100 pushups one time.  His girlfriend is not impressed with his amazing collection of G.I. Joe action figures.

6pm at Underground Collaborative

David also co-wrote a song with Sir Mix A Lot, who refers to him as “The guy that tried to ruin my career.”

Jon Torres

Last Action Movie (Headliner, Improv)
Last Action Movie is a long form improv group from Minneapolis, Minnesota which combines improvisation and stage combat to create high octane improvised action movies! We are currently performing a form called The Heist, which is an improvised version of the classic Hollywood heist film, wherein our team of miscreants attempt to execute a daring and dangerous plan to swipe a valuable item of the audience’s choosing from a highly secure location. The problem is, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry…
